Friday Favorites

What I'm
and enjoying so incredibly much!

What I found at the thrift store
and was super excited about.

What I got with birthday money
and makes me smile.

What I'm carrying lately

What works so well in my
to tame the frizzies.

What I bathe with
and it makes my skin super soft and smells a-mazing.

What project I'm working on this weekend
and can't wait to show you the "after".

Also, if your looking for colors and want to play a game to find out which color you should decorate/paint with... go here to take the Color Sense test.
My hubs works for this company and I found it to be fun answering the questions but
most importantly, very informative.

That's what's up with me on this Friday.
Have a great weekend!

beholden...

- the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

grateful- adjective
- feeling or showing an appreciation of kindness; thankful.

When thinking this morning about all that I am thankful/grateful for
my list kept growing…

: the weekend almost here
: celebrating youngest with a birthday party tomorrow
: being invited over to friend’s home
: crisp morning air
: hearing son yell “ I love you mom” before he goes out to play football
: and hearing him say it again as he comes in to get a drink of water
: gas in our cars
: balloons {cause they’re cute & colorful}
: favor with my hubs job
: healthiness
: the heat that warms our home
: leaves on the ground
: sun shining through the trees in backyard
: the warmth middle exudes

I also learned a new word this morning when getting the definition for grateful_  beholden... and this is what it said:

be·hold·en

Owing something, such as gratitude, to another; indebted

Now I think i’ve heard this before but probably didn’t pay it much attention until today.
So I feel indebted to show my gratefulness towards my sponsors/friends on here….just because I don’t want to let the opportunity ever pass me by..

With that… here is a random_ off the top of my head_
reasons for my thankfulness towards them today.

Katie and her encouragement always
Kinze and her beautiful heart
Jami and “we encourage Tuesdays”
Laura for her pursuing something she’s passionate about
Hanna and her wise words
Heather and her creative inspiration
Chelsea and new life in her belly
Ruthie for a starbucks card sent & always being uplifting
Kim for her awesome recipes
Kelly for her sense of humor
Heather for inspiring me
Meredith for newlywed marriage
Kim for her openness & honesty
Kelli Diane for new friendship
Pamela for her sweet soul
Ashley for challenging me
Leslie for her wisdom

These lovely ladies inspire_ challenge_ encourage_ are all so beautiful_ and I am thankful.

have a happy weekend!

Heather :)

It's Friday!

With MawMaw being here this week we gave the kids the option to pick a day that they would want to stay home from school. Without my help they all agreed (which is rare) to pick a different day. So oldest picked Monday_ youngest picked Tuesday_ and middle picked Wednesday. They were able to get one-on-one time as well as get spoiled for the day. We all need those days.

I forgot to take photos of the other 2 (shame on me) but I did remember to take some on  Wednesday. Middle had gotten a new shirt (which is so her)_ MawMaw got her a blingy bracelet_ and we took her to Starbuck’s to get a Frap. You know, because only big girls get to go to Starbuck’s. The fact that she enjoyed herself, is such an understatement.

The quote on the Starbuck’s wall for the season is in the photo below. It’s all about the taste of coffee and they compare it to berries_ chocolate_ but my favorite part is when she replies and questions by saying “ it tastes like home”…ahhhhh, I love that part. And I can almost see this quote being put on a wall in my own home.

So of course, while MIL was here we did some shopping. Which included hitting the thrift stores and Goodwill. We scored h-ugely! MIL got 3 pair of shoes & a silver cake stand. And I scored another chandy (like I needed another one)…omgoodness I can’t wait to share the ones we re-did in our house. They turned out sooooo cute.

This chandy cost me a whole $5. What?? I paid $19.99 for one of my other ones from the thrift store. Hence, the reason I couldn’t pass it up. I’m thinking it can go in the girls room_ an outdoor space_ or for an upcoming craft show I’m planning to be in.

My most Fav deal of that day was this pair of shoes for $4.50. I promise…I think I’ve seen them in Anthro’s catalog. Kidding…but they do look like they came out of there, don’t they? I kept envisioning them with a clipped flower at the top…. I’ll have to show you that idea later.

Then we went into World Market and saw this great dining room table with this metal top. Which got me thinking about our kitchen countertops. We are wanting to re-do them and after seeing that table I’m thinking they would look so good done like that. Hubs is doing some research on it.

Ya’ll, I love my camera. I mean really. It captures moments and so many things that before I got it, was missing out on. So thankful for it. I know it’s a camera..but if not for it, I wouldn’t get to document our life in photos….super thankful for that.

And lastly, Jeannett’s challenge was to take a photo of something we don’t like. Well this photo of my neck roll_ I really really don’t like. Neck rolls… where did that even come from? I dunno, but I don’t like it, that is for sure!

Oh, and 2 more things 1. my SIL, Stephanie from the HoneyPot (her hubs is my hubs brother. Those 2 …there ain’t no denying each other) has opened up an Etsy shop of lovely handmade goodness. Go show her some love if you have a minute… she’s awesome and will so appreciate it. She has a new grandson & we have a new nephew named Nate. He is a cutey and the first boy on their side.

And 2. We got a call last night that my brother and sister in law are coming by today to stay the night. They have been on vaca and are going to swing in our direction on their way back home to see us. Sweeeeeet surprises & phone calls like that are always exciting! Only I’ve got to get myself busy getting my house in order and food prepared. It’s going to be a great weekend here in The Holden household. Hope you have a great weekend too.

Happy Friday!
Heather :)

Favorite's on this Friday

Oh my goodness... is he not the cutest thing you've ever seen?
Well he came in my mail yesterday!
A few weeks back I participated in a "Mug Swap" over with Kim.
We had to buy a mug_ send it to someone_ then we got a mug in return from
someone special. Laura you were that someone special...thank you.
She got him from ModCloth.. and girl you did way too much!
I love him.. he is adorable..thank you.

Now for all my insta-gram pictures..
I also received this in the mail at the beginning of the week..I know.. go figure.
Two treats in 1 week...Wha?
I have felt horrible from a cold this week and so this was a sure pick-me-upper.
A friend just decided to bless me with this b/c she knew how much I adore aprons...
Bless me she did... Jade, thank you.
I could eat the polka dots...

This girl I can't keep upright. She is forever doing handstands or climbing on the furniture.
She freaks me out though, because it seriously looks like she's going to hit the wall with her head right before she flips upside down..
I try not to watch and just peek every now & again.

Speaking of middle child this made me smile as I flipped through her bible.
Not sure when she wrote this or what prompted it, but it definitely made me smile.

Youngest sure has enjoyed these popsicles this Summer.
They have helped us to make it through the unbearable hot days.
Being really cheap has helped too. :)
We will soon say so long to them until next Summer..
Because Fall is coming and that makes me want to do a happy dance.

This is what the sky looked like the morning of the first drop off to school. I was reminded that
"the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
Whoever has ears, let them hear." Matt 13:43

I found comfort in this sky and these words...

And this boy and his blues melt my heart. I finally convinced him to wear
real shorts (real shorts are like khaki's or something other than sport related clothes)
to school yesterday. On one hand, I love that he doesn't care to look all spiffy
b/c that means he's not interested in the girls yet.
But sometimes I would like to see him in something other than Under Armor..just sayin'.
We've learned to compromise and on Sunday's or family events, ..
he has to wear what I pick out. Until then I guess I'm just going to grin and bear it.
