Stickers on Our Nails??

Me and the girls tried out a new product this past weekend...Salon Effects Polish Strips.
I had seen it on someone and thought it looked really good.
So I found it on sale and was able to buy 1 get 1 half off...which justified me having to buy 4 boxes of it....in 4 different colors. :)

It comes 16 strips to a box but I didn't use nearly all of my strips doing my fingers so you could definitely get 2 uses out of it.

There are different sized strips and you match them up to your nail, then peel off the backing. It's like it suctions unto the nail....strange but it does. Any excess left at the end you file off and shape up.

Gabi chose the butterfly pattern called "Fly with me".

"Wild Child" was what Kayli chose. She kept telling everyone stickers were on our nails. They would say "ooh, I like your nails" and she would say "it's stickers." My mom put stickers on them." Which I guess, it kinda is....??

Mine was called "Laced Up" and it was O.k. Jode said it looked like spiders on my nails so that made me really not like it. Yea, I'm not too fond of spiders.

This was a little time consuming when doing it on myself. The directions said it would last up to 10 days but I took mine off with polish remover on the 5th day. That was a little messy, too because their was all of the sticky residue stuff that had to come off.

Overall, if I'm going to do my nails, I think I'm going to stick to polishing them...but I guess stickers are always fun...

Magazine Subscriptions

K, so I told you how I love to get mail, right. Well it only makes sense that I would like getting a magazine subscription every month. And normally I wouldn't splurge on myself for a magazine. But... I found out about Best Deals Magazines and you just can't beat it! They offer yearly subscriptions for $4.69 on some of the hottest, bestest magazines.

I got these 2 yesterday. "Taste of Home" I love because I get to try out some of the best tried & true recipes. It seems like I get stuck in the same ole' rut of making the same ole things to eat. So I'm hoping this will help me add some variety to our dinnertime.

"Ready Made" I no nothing about...but they made it sound really interesting so I got it. :)
It's supposed to be a DIY for your home kinda thingy. So I'm hoping to get some fresh inspiration and ideas from it. We will see...

Would luv to know...what magazines are sitting on your table right now?

Family Night

Not too long back I was inspired by a family (The Whitakers) who had family nights where they picked a theme and went with it. Which led me to start doing our own fam nights. We've always had a game night. Where one night a week we tried to play a game together as a family and the kids have always enjoyed that so much.

They say laughter is the best medicine and Lord knows we all could use more laughter & play together. I want my kids to have fun with us, by just being them, to laugh at how ridiculous we all are together...why...because we are family, I got all my brothers/sisters with me, we are family....

We started out by writing all their different ideas on paper and putting them in a bucket. We then drew 1 at a time and filled in on the cal 1 night a week, the topic of our special night. Some examples were: Sports Night, Hide-n-go seek, Pick a color, fav Musician night, Movie night, Justin Bieber Night, I'm not me, I'm you night.....just to name a few.

I'm not me, I'm you__ we each drew out each other's name out of the bucket. We weren't supposed to tell who we drew..we were to just go and get our outfits on. Well Grayson drew his own name but didn't tell anyone until we all came out dressed, except him. So we told him he couldn't get away with that..he had to pick someone, so he picked his dad.

Gabi picked her dad and for some reason felt the need to not smile in trying to be him. She doesn't play  when it comes to this...ha

Kayli picked Gabi so she was very happy.

I picked Kayli and Jode got me!! I was soooo proud of him for getting into this and going to this extreme. Our kids about peed themselves when he walked out from the bedroom.

Justin Bieber Night: Let's just say we rocked the house down....ha. Cause' we're just wild & crazy like that!

Can you tell that our kids aren't the only ones having a blast with this. We are kinda enjoying it too and hopefully we are making memories that our kids will never forget.

Rooster Feathers_ We're One of the Crazy Ones

Rooster Feathers..who would've thought! This is one of hottest_ sought after_hard to find_ paying a fortune_fads that are out there right now.. I guess that's the affect Steven Tyler has on people.

After a lot of convincing_begging really_ I took my girls to get their feathers put in.
I really wanted to do it myself because it's uber easy and I have the tool....I just needed the feathers. haha....but that's the funny part because apparently, they're feathers that fly fishermen use and so the quantities are being wiped out, leaving the fishermen with little stock.
I finally decided it was too much hassle and we went to a nearby salon to have them done...which took her all of 7minutes for both girls.

It's $8 a feather and then the 3rd is $5. So you at least have to get 2 because they're hard to see if not. Then you pay $1 to add a piece of tinsel with it. Yes, tinsel as in, little shimmery strands. But they stay up to 3 months, can be washed, & when they come out if you save the feathers they can be put back in.

They are super super cute. I'm thinking I kinda would like some myself.
$34 dollars for 7 minutes isn't too bad if you're the one putting these beautimus feathers in.

Yea, I guess we're one of the crazy ones...:)

Anthro Curtains

From the first of seeing these curtains on Anthro's website I was in love...well almost anything to do with Anthropologie makes my heart start to beat a little faster.
I like to think of them as my "happy curtains."

And part of my love was the fact that they were on clearance because they probably wouldn't be hanging on my walls if not...just saying.
Anthropologie at full price is not in my budget, but their sales are awesome.

After deciding I wanted these I then realized they only had them in stock in the 63' inch length. Which I could have easily gone with the 90' inch are longer on these tall windows. So I had to start thinking hard about what I could do to make them work... in my mind I had them already, I could see them hanging on my walls.

 Breakfast nook area.

And these are in my living room.
For the record, I'm over the red wall...but it's a rental and owners will not let us paint it...so I'm just having to deal. :)

I knew I had to add length to them. So off to the fabric store I went to try and match a fabric that I could add onto the bottom section. Now I don't know how to sew, so I pretty much had to come up with "my way" to put them together.

First, I turned up all the corners of the fabric, as if to have a hem, and ironed it really well. Then I used Heat n Bond to try and bind the 2 pieces together, but with no luck. For some reason it just wouldn't hold. Not sure if my fabric was too heavy or what. So out came the glue gun. That's right, I hot glued that extra panel of fabric to all 4 curtain panels and it has worked perfectly.

Yay for Anthro, Yay for hot glue, and Yay for curtains that make me smile
every time I look at them... that's really what it's all about..creating that "happy" place
where you want to dwell... and just be.

Thrifty Tuesday

First, I have to start by saying these pics were taken with my phone so they're not the best quality. Second, don't judge my couch. It is worn-in. Just look at it on the right side, poor thing. It's been around since my son was born which means we've had it like 11 years. Which also means it's gone through a lot of spit up from 3 kids, drool, and I probably would have to say, even being peed on. Eventually we will get a new one but for now I'm having to be content. :)

Anyhow Jode and I were out & about looking at houses when we passed this thrift store where I spotted 4 cane back dining chairs with velvet cushions. Now anything with velvet_couches, curtains, I'm a sucker for. So he pulled me in to check'em out. But after getting close and inspecting them I felt they were cheaply made...not very sturdy.
Once inside though I immediately spotted these 2 items. The light had shone, my eyes had seen, and the "it" had been revealed. This frame & mirror were "it."

This beauty will definitely be getting some paint. I'm thinking I want her for one of the girls rooms but we'll see. Either way I know she'll be smashing.

Can you believe that sticker? I couldn't...and the detail on the frame.

Now my goal since getting this canvas of the fam has been to put a frame around it. Only I thought I would probably have to buy one and then paint it. Originally seeing this frame I thought "yea, I'll paint it" but after getting her home, taking out the painting, and cleaning her up a bit I decided to hang her just to see. See if it all worked together and guess what? I think it did....I think I like it just the way it is. The frame is massive and it helps take up a big space and I have some other ideas of things I want to see happen with this wall too. But for now, I'm thinking this will do.

The best part was that there was a sign hanging that said "50% off all frames today." So I walked away paying a whopping $15 for both items.

Happy Thriftin'!
