Before & After Painted Hutch

Some of you may remember what my hutch looked like last year when i got it. 

It sat that way for a year but it doesn't look that way anymore. 

My hubs man did an amazing job painting it and i am so pleased with the outcome. 

This picture is from 2004 when we first bought our piece and what it looked like. 

I'll save the story for another time but it was a gift that hubs picked out and hid in our garage for 

2 weeks without me knowing. How he managed to pull it off I'll never know bc I'm hard to surprise. 

But he did and it was awesome-sauce.

Fast forward years later as my style has changed and evolved, i walk into Goodwill 

one day and find/purchase this piece for $50. 

We took the the black top piece off and painted it to use in the Craft room. 

It now holds fabric and lots of miscellany things.

3 coats of paint later and this is the hutch now.

We replaced the wooden knobs with clear crystal ones from Hobby Lobby.

They were running their 50% off sale and so i got them for $2/piece.

My most favorite part of the hutch is the etched glass and the back board done in gold.

That was what i payed for and saw in this piece... character. 

I'm still working out what i want to have displayed in it. 

For now I 'm just enjoying how clean and purty it is.

Goodwill hunting

Ok. so I made my every_2 week_trip to Goodwill and here are my finds.

The mirror was an immediate no brainer_ I knew that I wanted it. Hubs hasn't hung it yet because it weighs like 20 pounds or something..no lie. It's massively heavy.

This next piece(the hutch) was one I left_ drove around_ called hubs to try and talk me out of it _only he said "go get it" _so I did. That was my cue because if he's like "no, you don't need that, or are you sure?" then I usually question myself and know I probably should just pass.

It was $50 and I can't easily justify spending that flippantly..but I know this is one of those pieces for me that I will treasure. The back piece covered with the old wallpaper had me_that and the etched design on the glass...it's got character_ it's like it tells a story when you see it.

Versus this is what it looked like with the old hutch sitting on it... nothings wrong with it. But it's just plain ole' bought out of the storeroom and it's quite a bit smaller. oh, and this is the only picture I could find of the "before" hutch so bare with me and don't panic it's not Christmas yet. We still have 5 months to go... I was so excited to see if it would fit that we took the top off before I could snap a picture.

Hubs is going to help me paint both pieces to match_ But I need your suggestions & any input on what you think I should do..  if you've seen a really cute one send me a link or maybe you've re-done a piece yourself. I would so love & appreciate you for it.

That was what I found while hunting at our local Goodwill...don't you just luv a good find?. :)

Puke Green

I like puke green. Some still have the color in their bathrooms back from the 70's and I think in small doses..it's cute. Speaking of puke green my youngest had a "bug" this weekend and did some of that herself. I felt horrible for her. If only we could take the sickness from them we would, right. By Sunday she was riding her bike again and feeling normal..so I was thankful.

 I've had this urn on my porch for awhile loving it's shape & curves. Only it always looked dirty and trust me, I have scrubbed, but to no avail. Paint & color can make all the difference in the world, you know. And when I first started putting this color on it looked yellow. I thought "it must be meant to be because of how I've been crush'n on yellow"
But no, it changed after all 4 coats.

Ivy Leaf is the real color choice of this spray paint but I tend to think it leans more towards the puke green kind. My kids don't understand why that color. But I say it's simple really...it's different..and I like it.

Spiff'n it Up

The flowers on everything lately are making me crazy...like crazy in love.
So I decided to spiff this old tank up a bit. With some fabric, thread, & some hot glue....viola. Now I have a cute-si-fied tank to wear.
