Movin' on...Up the Road

I'm not sure when we'll get internet service hooked up at our house... you know how those things go...may take a few days. So if you don't hear from me around these parts. Just know that I'm unpacking trying to get some order amidst everything and ...
I will be back.

Remember the Jefferson's (used to love the song when I was little) or what
about Good Times? Well in honor of us moving and because it was the first thing I
thought of when trying to write a post for today.
I'm going to sign off with a little remix....

Well we're movin' up the road,
To a new neighborhood.
To a home we finally own.
Movin on up,
To a neighborhood.
We finally own a piece of grass.

Fish don't fry in the kitchen;
Beans don't burn on the grill.
Took a whole lotta prayin',
Just to get up that hill.
Now we're thankin' the Lord,
Gettin' our turn at a mortgage.
As long as we live, it's you and me baby,
There ain't nothin wrong with that.

Well we're movin up the road,
To a new neighborhood.
To a home we finally own.
Movin on up,
To a neighborhood.
We finally own a piece of grass.

Happy Friday!

Aqua is My Fav

Today's challenge from Gussy was my favorite color...

Wow..to break it down to one favorite color _that's hard for me because I like so many.
So in order for me to figure it out I had to ask myself these questions...would I wear it? decorate with it? eat it? drive it? and my answer was always yes!

Lately I have fallen hard for aqua. It's so pretty_ relaxing_ and if I could eat it... I so would.
I also like greens_ yellows_ corals_ greys_ a hint of red_ pinks_ deep purples.
Oh, you get where I'm going with this.

Anywho here's some examples of things that I own & love in shades of blue.

This "free to be" dishtowel hangs everyday on my stove.
My favorite part...the blue tassels(even though they're not aqua).
I love anything with that cute fringey stuff hanging.

This lamp and her twin lights my entryway...and I love them.

I drink my coffee most mornings from this coffee cup.
Just because of the color..and it's big. And I like a lot of coffee in the mornings.

This is my blue bubblegum necklace and seriously, it's 1 of my fav's because of the color...

And here are some things in aqua I don't own.. but would love too.
I can see me wearing this...

And I could live in this aqua house_ eat this cake_ and drink from that glass.

You would probably find some of these sitting around in my home...

And I would own a shop that looked like this.......and take orders on a phone like that...

But..... remember how I said it's hard to pick just 1 fav color.
Well here is an example of that_ I like aqua & coral

 Aqua & Yellow

Aqua with red

And aqua with pink

Whew!..this was fun. But you see why it's so hard to pick just 1.
All of these colors are so stinkin' cute!
But today Aqua is "it" for me....now I think I need to go paint something aqua or maybe go buy a shirt in aqua...or something....:)

That Flicker

My list seemed to grow this morning as I thought upon
all of the tasks I had at hand. Packing_ finances_
my son not feeling well from a cold_  moving day_ a close date_
a potential hurricane on the horizon of our move.
And I'm the type, when things start to mount up, can get overwhelmed.
When I get to this place there's only one thing I know to do.
Turn them all over_ all of my requests made known to Him.
All of these things that are weighing on my mind and
trying to rob me of my present joy or present focus.
As I was talking it through with Him my eyes caught a flicker
It was birds on our deck
Some sitting perched (peaceful)
Some being playful with each other

When thinking about what I would write today for encouragement.
I kept coming back to them.

Somehow when seeing them, I feel it's a reminder_

"Look at the birds of the air,
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns,
and yet your heavenly Father feeds them
Are you not much more valuable than they?"

I let those words soothe because that's what they do for me.
And then I caught that flicker again
Only this time it was the flicker that spoke  HOPE.
Because when knowing the one whom everything comes from we can have..hope.

And in thinking about the birds I thought about this quote from Maya Angelou.

I also felt challenged by this...
is the song that I sing about Him?
What kind of song does my life overall sound like?

I love these Tuesday posts of encouragement.
For that's what I feel we are collectively doing_
we're singing our song....
we all have one to sing about.

Lightbulb Moment

Last Sunday was the first week for oldest, being in 6th grade now, to go into service with us.
Our church has a phenomenal children's ministry and each of my kids have an age appropriate
class they go into. However, last week was move-up Sunday..my son falling into that category.

As he got dressed into "real" clothes(if you read my post from Friday you understand that) I could tell he was excited. He was excited to go with us and hear the adult message. No more games_ snack time_ making a craft_ he was old enough now to be with adults.

As we stood next to each other the band played, we sang, he clapped_ and I had a lightbulb moment. The kind that makes you stop and pause..I couldn't get past how awesome it's going to be to watch his life _ his love for Jesus grow_ for it to become more real to him with each year that he matures_ for him to independently worship.
It will no longer be about us... but solely about him & his relationship.

When their little we're busy teaching_instilling_ pouring into their lives
(not that that will ever stop totally but with him getting older) it comes to that place where
we've done our part and it's going to be up to him to respond_act_ move_ give_ serve.

It was a sweet moment to think of him being passionately in love with the one who
created him to be. Our kids are used to hearing that they're purposed and that God has big things in store for them. We believe that to be true for all of them.
And I couldn't help but become more expectant...even as I watched my son clap and listened to him sing.....

Favorite's on this Friday

Oh my goodness... is he not the cutest thing you've ever seen?
Well he came in my mail yesterday!
A few weeks back I participated in a "Mug Swap" over with Kim.
We had to buy a mug_ send it to someone_ then we got a mug in return from
someone special. Laura you were that someone special...thank you.
She got him from ModCloth.. and girl you did way too much!
I love him.. he is adorable..thank you.

Now for all my insta-gram pictures..
I also received this in the mail at the beginning of the week..I know.. go figure.
Two treats in 1 week...Wha?
I have felt horrible from a cold this week and so this was a sure pick-me-upper.
A friend just decided to bless me with this b/c she knew how much I adore aprons...
Bless me she did... Jade, thank you.
I could eat the polka dots...

This girl I can't keep upright. She is forever doing handstands or climbing on the furniture.
She freaks me out though, because it seriously looks like she's going to hit the wall with her head right before she flips upside down..
I try not to watch and just peek every now & again.

Speaking of middle child this made me smile as I flipped through her bible.
Not sure when she wrote this or what prompted it, but it definitely made me smile.

Youngest sure has enjoyed these popsicles this Summer.
They have helped us to make it through the unbearable hot days.
Being really cheap has helped too. :)
We will soon say so long to them until next Summer..
Because Fall is coming and that makes me want to do a happy dance.

This is what the sky looked like the morning of the first drop off to school. I was reminded that
"the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
Whoever has ears, let them hear." Matt 13:43

I found comfort in this sky and these words...

And this boy and his blues melt my heart. I finally convinced him to wear
real shorts (real shorts are like khaki's or something other than sport related clothes)
to school yesterday. On one hand, I love that he doesn't care to look all spiffy
b/c that means he's not interested in the girls yet.
But sometimes I would like to see him in something other than Under Armor..just sayin'.
We've learned to compromise and on Sunday's or family events, ..
he has to wear what I pick out. Until then I guess I'm just going to grin and bear it.

It's a beautiful day

Today is Thursday and so that means it's time to

Tuesday the girls and I decided to have a picnic. It was the day before school started_  I had had to go run some errands that morning_and all I kept feeling was the "momma guilt". This was there last day home and I wanted to do something kinda fun for them. Not spend the day grocery shopping.
Grayson had gone to work with his dad so it was just us girlies together. But everything seemed to be working against us. I had a zillion & 1 things I needed to get done plus I've had a sinus infection or a cold of some kind for around 4 days now. I have felt yucky. It's zapping my energy level and I rarely feel bad and I don't do well feeling bad. :)
Anywho they kept begging for chic-fil-a while out picking up some snacks & groceries. So I caved and we went through the drive thru. We came home and I was racking my brain trying to think of what we could do...something that didn't require a lot of "energy".
I finally told them to go get the blanket and we would have a picnic outside. They gathered our things and we went out under our favorite tree in the backyard.
Nothing fancy...but to them it was... uninterrupted time that speaks you are more important.
I left my phone, the computer, and we just sat & played.
I think I may have enjoyed it more than them.
Thanks to chic-fil-a and our kids meals we were able to be entertained by playing with our prize,  Pictureka. Then they got tired of that and we had to get our UNO on for a bit.

Once again I was reminded ... it's the little things...that mean so much.
Like Polynesian Sauce...gosh it's so good....
A kind word_ a hug_ a smile_ unplugging_ time spent_ being present amidst all the chaos_
the world in which we live seems to scream chaos.
The have to have_ have to get_ have to be.
Yet I'm reminded we can have the present and that can be.... just enough. :)
