New Year_ New School

We walked into the new school on Thursday night and back again on Friday...excited_
hopeful_ but nervous...real nervous.. even though we know the school is a top district school,
we still didn't know the little things. You know those things like_ where is the bathroom?
are the front desk administration people nice? are the students accepting of new people
or have they all been together since birth? and the most harrowing question was....
is Mrs./Mr. _____ the school teacher that you want?

The 30 minute introduction felt like forever as we waited to see our child's name on the
projector under the teacher's name for the school year.
One by one they introduced themselves..
and one by one I watched my daughters face approve or disapprove of them.
You know,  those first impression's that we superficially do.. all it took for my daughter
was for the teacher to be a male and she disapproved.
He could have been the teacher of the year for all we knew,
but she just didn't want a boy teacher.

After finding out their assignment we slowly found the teachers room
and then we found their desk with their name assigned.
First teacher was so nice & friendly..she has a daughter named heather.
And second teacher seemed really nice too.
She actually lives a street over in the neighborhood that we're moving into.

Relief..all I felt was relief walking out of that school.
Feeling confident in my daughters teachers and confident that this
will hopefully be an easy transition for them. All I could do was thank the Lord.

When we got back in the car and closed the doors we thanked Him.
For the classes_ the teachers that my kids ended up with_
the principal (she lives in our soon- to- be neighborhood too).
He knows who they need/ what they need this year and I'm so thankful.

We have 2 down and 1 to go.
My middle schooler will find out tomorrow his teachers,
we'll tour his school, hopefully find out some of those little things..
we are excited_ hopeful_ but still.. a little nervous.

Linking up for it's a God thing with

Heather :)

  3. I LOVE that feeling in normal "everyday life" situations where you feel His peace and know it's the right thing to do.
