Hey Ya'll! We're all moved in and hooked back up!
I'll post in the next day or too and give an update but I didn't want to miss out on this fun vintage link up with Maggie over at Gussy Sews.
I found out that "vintage" can mean different things to different people. But basically what I came away with is something that represents or comes from another era.
Vintage to me, means it has history....it's weathered_ and when you see that item whether it be a piece of furniture_ a piece of jewelry_ or a piece of clothing... it takes you back to that time.
When thinking about this post I started trying to think what I had in my possession, that to me, is considered vintage. I have a zillion images that I could post from Pinterest of beautiful vintagey things. But I did have a few things that popped in my mind that mean a lot to me because they've been passed down... they take me back_ and they have that charm.
The first thing I thought of was this cameo given to me by my granny. I am the only granddaughter on my dad's side of the family and this had been passed down to her from her grandmother. It's super special and my granny is no longer living so it's something I'll always have of hers.
My mom's dad bought this guitar for her when she was a teenager. He was later killed in a train
accident when cleaning up debris after a major hurricane had hit in the South. My mom used to play it in church when she was young but decided to give it to my husband who plays it now.
This buffet I purchased from a Salvation Army in Pa and later found a newspaper taped to one of the drawers that was dated back to the 1920's. Crazy...
And the mirror I picked up at Habitat for Humanity and was originally the same dark brown as the buffet. It's an all time favorite vintagey piece.
This pink bedspread I looove and found at Goodwill while peeking in one day. I stumbled upon a white one a few weeks back and wanted it sooo bad but it had a tear...so I had to pass.
This old chair I walked away from a garage sale paying only $3 for ... and the colors and fabric are pure goodness.
And lastly, this is another garage sale item that I purchased from a little old lady years ago.
She was the cutest thing and she had these canisters all packaged & wrapped up neatly in newspaper. I'm not sure how old they are but they take me back to a different era with that mushroomy kind of feel.
