The Orchard

Yesterday we drove up to a great Apple Orchard about an hour and a half from our house. Our friends, Jessica & Dave, had suggested we go a couple of weeks back and so they were kind enough to be our tour guides and show us the ropes of apple picking. It was beautiful…. the leaves are really starting to stand-out and those oranges & reds are just pinging.
I’ve never picked my own apples before and so this was a real treat. I also didn’t know how many different kinds
of apples there are.
I guess I’ve been sheltered or something… but they had 8-10 different kinds cut up that you could taste. We did a little tasting right there in the field from some we picked too.
Granny_ Gala_ Fuji_ Honeycrisp_ Mutsu_ Stayman Winesap_ Arkansas Black… are just a few that I can remember. It was truly a great little adventure for us as a family. The girls liked it and Grayson enjoyed jumping_ busting the already fallen & rotten ones. The best part was that we walked away with 15lbs of apples that our hands picked together from the tree… definitely a family tradition that we will have to do year after year.

Thank you Jessica & Dave for taking us to our first ever Apple Orchard! I had to add in this photo of the both of them. Dave thought it would be fun to roleplay a little Adam & Eve and Jessica’s face is priceless.

Apple Orchards and friends help make life a little more lovely.
